Welcome to Canvas Quest Art!

We’re a tight-knit group of retro gaming enthusiasts who create unique artwork inspired by the classic games that shaped our childhood. Canvas Quest started as a personal project born from a deep love for vintage video games—and my desire to decorate my apartment with something meaningful. From the original game boxes I admired at local stores as a kid to the pixelated 8-bit and 16-bit graphics that filled my screen, retro gaming art has always been a way to relive those carefree, nostalgic times. Just seeing these images, either on a piece of clothes, stuck into a cork board, magnetized on my fridge, or hanging on my wall for a few moments a day instantly transports me back to simpler days, grounding me with a sense of fun and playfulness.

Though our main focus nowadays has been our pins and magnets, we started our journey with canvas.  For wall art, canvas has always been my preferred medium. It turns a simple poster into something more dynamic, with a texture and depth that enhances the artwork. Plus, the material allows the art to wrap around the frame’s edges, creating a unique twist on the traditional framed piece. I decided early on to incorporate the canvas sides into my designs, bringing elements like the side labels of NES game boxes to life. It felt like having oversized, authentic game art hanging on my wall.

What began as a way to create personal gifts evolved into sharing my work with friends and, eventually, making it available for others to enjoy. After five years of creating retro game-inspired canvases, we still love every minute of the process. Connecting with fellow fans at shows and seeing how much joy these pieces bring to others is truly rewarding.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings to include enamel pins and magnets featuring our favorite game characters.  When combined with the canvases, we think of them as modern-day Colorforms, where the magnets can be placed and moved around on a canvas. We've also added LED lights and music chips to our pieces to engage multiple senses, enhancing the nostalgic gaming experience. The more ways we can recreate that retro vibe, the more enjoyable the art becomes.
